The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After having played for 2 minutes, Fausto Tavares managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Catugi EC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Fausto Tavares was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 6th match minute, Viracao AD was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Dé Abraão to maneuver through the defense. Clemente Leal took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Dé Abraão, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Kaká Lucas made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jean Saldanha in the 12th minute of play. After 14 played minutes Catugi EC got a freekick which was hit by Alfredo de Barros. Dé Abraão blasted a shot towards the goal in the 16th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Clemente Leal having to make a save. The audience thought a goal was coming when Laércio Linares got free with Clemente Leal in the 23rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Viracao AD's Kaká Lucas played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Fausto Tavares in the 28th minute of play. In the 30th minute Fausto Tavares shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Kaká Lucas saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After some careless play in the Catugi EC defense, Laércio Linares kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Clemente Leal. The Catugi EC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Clemente Leal should have stopped the shot. Kaká Lucas made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jean Saldanha in the 40th minute of play. Kaká Lucas showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jean Saldanha in the 45th minute of the match. Fausto Tavares received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 45th minute. Kaká Lucas tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Kaká Lucas showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jean Saldanha in the 47th minute of the match.

The wind increased when Fausto Tavares made the kick off in the second half. When Jean Saldanha came up free with the goalie in the 51st minute, the Catugi EC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Jean Saldanha couldn't finish the play. When Túlio Quadros fell near the penalty area in the 53rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Viracao AD's protests and gave Túlio Quadros a yellow card for diving instead. After 53 played minutes Viracao AD got a freekick which was hit by Túlio Quadros. In the 57th minute of the match Catugi EC got a corner. Viracao AD's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Marco Loyola ran over to the corner to take the kick. After taking down the ball on Catugi EC's corner Marco Loyola fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Kaká Lucas quite easily take care of the ball. Viracao AD's Kaká Lucas proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 67th minute of the match, managed to save Viracao AD from getting a goal against them. After 70 played minutes Viracao AD got a freekick which was hit by Egídio Catarinense. After a defensive mix-up in Catugi EC's zone, Laércio Linares stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Clemente Leal came out of the goal and Laércio Linares tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When Dé Abraão came up free with the goalie in the 75th minute, the Viracao AD fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Dé Abraão couldn't finish the play. If Dé Abraão had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 81st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 84th match minute, Catugi EC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jean Saldanha to maneuver through the defense. After having played for 91 minutes, Jean Saldanha managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Catugi EC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Jean Saldanha was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. Viracao AD had won after a very even match.
