After a rather tough play, Xaxim's Clóvis Monteiro got a free kick in the 7th minute. Artur Mattos showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Mazinho Gaúcho, who was totally free with the ball in the 9th minute. Mazinho Gaúcho fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 15th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Artur Mattos having to interfere. Délio Neto kicked well hit freekick during the 16th minute of the match. After 18 played minutes Xaxim got a freekick which was hit by Délio Neto. 19 minutes into the match, Quevedos's Daniel Mandrak broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. Délio Moura fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 21st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Artur Mattos having to interfere. If Mazinho Gaúcho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 23rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Mazinho Gaúcho got free in front of the goal in the 25th minute he wasn't very focused and chipped the ball just over the goal. Artur Mattos was delighted since he was out of position and the ball would have got in if it had gone under the crossbar. Clóvis Monteiro sent away a hard shot on goal in the 29th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After having played for 34 minutes, Mazinho Gaúcho managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Quevedos's supporters crossed their fingers, but Mazinho Gaúcho was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Waldemar Fonseca struck a weak shot in the 40th minute. Ulysses Brasil didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Xaxim. After 41 minutes of play, Quevedos's Délio Moura made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Artur Mattos was left in no man's land by his defense there! 46 minutes into the match, Quevedos's goalkeeper Ulysses Brasil had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Délio Neto. After the first half Quevedos were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Waldemar Fonseca was the one to do the kick off. Quevedos's Ulysses Brasil played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Waldemar Fonseca in the 54th minute of play. After some careless play in the Quevedos defense, Waldemar Fonseca kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Ulysses Brasil. The Quevedos fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Ulysses Brasil should have stopped the shot. Waldemar Fonseca sent away a hard shot on goal in the 69th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Délio Moura sent away a hard shot on goal in the 80th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance.
