João Pedro de Almeida came out of the goal and Percival Castro tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The supporters of Mairinque booed when Ossuna was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 26 match minutes in a wonderful position. Roger Pinho didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 30th minute Percival Castro shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but João Pedro de Almeida saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Nildo Pena stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Marcel de Andrade's shot from short distance in the 32nd minute. Ossuna's Nildo Pena played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Marcel de Andrade in the 36th minute of play. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Marcel de Andrade to make the kick off. After having played for 72 minutes, Virgílio Ramos managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ossuna's supporters crossed their fingers, but Virgílio Ramos was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Percival Castro fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 76th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without João Pedro de Almeida having to interfere. Humberto Donato fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 82nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nildo Pena having to interfere. Ossuna's Nildo Pena proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 84th minute of the match, managed to save Ossuna from getting a goal against them. Marcel de Andrade charged in rather forcefully in the 86th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Marcel de Andrade the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play.
