The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 4th minute of the game. One of Murungaba SS:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Destero EC:s goal. In the 11th minute Jonathan Saldanha shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rodolfo Rocha saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Alfredão Silva sent away a hard shot on goal in the 14th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Betão Oliveira kicked well hit freekick during the 16th minute of the match. Rodolfo Rocha showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Adalberto Dante, who was totally free with the ball in the 22nd minute. Alfredão Silva sent away a hard shot on goal in the 25th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Destero EC's Jonathan Saldanha managed to work through Murungaba SS's defense and was going for an easy goal, but he hit the shot with his toe and the ball flew outside the goal. Jonathan Saldanha dejectedly held out his arms as if to ask why the ball hadn't gone in. Adalberto Dante fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 37th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Rodolfo Rocha having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jonathan Saldanha in the 39th minute of play forced Murungaba SS's goalkeeper Rodolfo Rocha to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Albertinho Gerber made a fantastic save in the 43rd minute, when Alfredão Silva sent off a good shot on target. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Adalberto Dante to strike the kick off in the second half. Duda Palmeira fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 63rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Albertinho Gerber having to interfere. With a little luck, Murungaba SS's Rodolfo Rocha got control of the ball when Jonathan Saldanha tried to sneak it across the goal line. Albertinho Gerber showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Alfredão Silva, who was totally free with the ball in the 70th minute. When Dedé Cordeiro was, once again, overly rough in his play he received his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. 80 minutes had been played. Leonardo Arósio, 81 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal.
