The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Raí de Souza fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 14th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Anderson Gonçalves having to interfere. If Leopoldo da Fonseca had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 26th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Leonardo Meira came up free with the goalie in the 32nd minute, the Balneario fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Leonardo Meira couldn't finish the play. Raí de Souza's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Anderson Gonçalves read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 34th minute of play. Leonardo Meira fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 35th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Anderson Gonçalves having to interfere. Leonardo Meira sent away a hard shot on goal in the 37th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Igarapava's Anderson Gonçalves played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Raí de Souza in the 39th minute of play. With a little luck, Igarapava's Anderson Gonçalves got control of the ball when Leonardo Meira tried to sneak it across the goal line. João Paulo Vale took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Luís Eduardo Pitta, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The crowd rose to their feet as Balneario's Raí de Souza slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Anderson Gonçalves. That made the score 1-0 after 48 minutes of play. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Leopoldo da Fonseca to strike the kick off in the second half. João Paulo Vale showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Leopoldo da Fonseca in the 55th minute of the match. The supporters of Igarapava booed when Balneario was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 56 match minutes in a wonderful position. Laércio Faria didn't get a good kick on the ball. Leopoldo da Fonseca fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 57th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without João Paulo Vale having to interfere. Balneario's supporters crossed their fingers, but Raí de Souza was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Anderson Gonçalves showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Laércio Faria, who was totally free with the ball in the 80th minute. Luís Eduardo Pitta could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 81st minute of the match, but João Paulo Vale made a huge save. An unexpectedly hard shot by Olívio Alagoano in the 84th minute of play forced Igarapava's goalkeeper Anderson Gonçalves to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 94th minute the ball was on its way in behind Igarapava's goalkeeper Anderson Gonçalves, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Donatello Valadares charged in rather forcefully in the 95th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Donatello Valadares the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. A collision led to Igarapava getting a freekick after 95 minutes play. Donatello Valadares hit a great ball. Anderson Gonçalves made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Raí de Souza in the 96th minute of play. In the 98th minute, Balneario's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Leopoldo da Fonseca fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. Igarapava's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
