In the 2nd minute, Nilmar Souza had to leave the field with a concussion. After 3 played minutes Chapadinha got a freekick which was hit by Elano Tavares. If Diamantino Maranhense had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 7th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Jorginho Valadares fell near the penalty area in the 9th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Itanhum EC's protests and gave Jorginho Valadares a yellow card for diving instead. In the 9th match minute, Itanhum EC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jorginho Valadares to maneuver through the defense. After 11 played minutes Itanhum EC got a freekick which was hit by Giuseppe do Nascimento. In the 15th minute Aluísio Silveira shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but André Luís da Silva saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Richard Rezende sent away a hard shot on goal in the 16th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Aluísio Bueno during the 18th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 18th minute, Aluísio Bueno hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 21 minutes into the match, Itanhum EC's Diamantino Maranhense sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Haroldo Meireles narrowly saved just below the crossbar. André Luís da Silva took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Aluísio Silveira, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 23 minutes, Dino Mendes mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Itanhum EC and the Chapadinha players grew even worse after the yellow card. Aluísio Silveira sent away a hard shot on goal in the 25th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 27 minutes into the match, Richard Rezende notched a goal, 1-0, to the right of Itanhum EC's André Luís da Silva. André Luís da Silva was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. When Elano Tavares was, once again, overly rough in his play he received his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. 30 minutes had been played. Elano Tavares kicked well hit freekick during the 30th minute of the match. Richard Rezende sent away a hard shot on goal in the 32nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Itanhum EC's André Luís da Silva proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 34th minute of the match, managed to save Itanhum EC from getting a goal against them. Diamantino Maranhense struck a weak shot in the 38th minute. Haroldo Meireles didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Itanhum EC. Diamantino Maranhense received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 43rd minute. Haroldo Meireles tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Dino Mendes recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 45th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

Diamantino Maranhense received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 64th minute. Haroldo Meireles tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 65th minute, Aluísio Bueno hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When Artur Linhares fell near the penalty area in the 67th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Chapadinha's protests and gave Artur Linhares a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Itanhum EC booed when Chapadinha was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 67 match minutes in a wonderful position. Artur Linhares didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 68th minute, Fernão Carioca sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and Chapadinha's Haroldo Meireles didn't even have to move. When Richard Rezende came up free with the goalie in the 71st minute, the Chapadinha fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Richard Rezende couldn't finish the play. 74 minutes into the match, Itanhum EC's goal looked a bit too open when Richard Rezende came free, but André Luís da Silva reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in Chapadinha's zone, Diamantino Maranhense stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Haroldo Meireles came out of the goal and Diamantino Maranhense tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. During the 80th minute of the match Artur Linhares completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Artur Linhares a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. Diamantino Maranhense took the ball and in the 85 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Haroldo Meireles. Haroldo Meireles dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-1. After some fancy dribbling in the 90th minute, Aluísio Silveira managed to get in a good position for a shot. Chapadinha's supporters rose to their feet, but Aluísio Silveira was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. André Luís da Silva breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Diamantino Maranhense received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 95th minute. Haroldo Meireles tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Both teams had looked equal from kick-off, and no-one was surprised when the match finally ended in a draw.
