Spectators: 32 (Terracing: 25, Seating: 7, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Aluísio Marinho started the match with the kick off. 3 minutes into the game, Patrício Diniz was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Gurihu's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Vasques FC the free kick. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 2nd minute of the game. One of Gurihu:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Vasques FC:s goal. Gurihu:s Doni Hames showed great skill when he stopped Geraldo da Fonseca:s penalty. Adolfo Vale struck a weak shot in the 8th minute. Rodrigo Diniz didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Gurihu. In the 10th minute, Aluísio Marinho left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Gurihu fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. 14 minutes into the game, Vitinho Barreto was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Vasques FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Gurihu the free kick. After 14 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Vasques FC! Rodrigo Diniz showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Adolfo Vale in the 19th minute of the match. 21 minutes into the game, João Augusto Nóbrega was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Gurihu's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Vasques FC the free kick. After having played for 27 minutes, Aluísio Marinho managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Gurihu's supporters crossed their fingers, but Aluísio Marinho was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Rodrigo Diniz showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Aluísio Marinho, who was totally free with the ball in the 37th minute. Aluísio Marinho fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 38th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Rodrigo Diniz having to interfere. Gugu Abraão took the ball and in the 45 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Rodrigo Diniz. Rodrigo Diniz dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-2. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Edson Meirelles was the one to do the kick off. If Remo Freire had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 54th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Remo Freire in the 86th minute of play forced Gurihu's goalkeeper Doni Hames to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Adolfo Vale sent away a hard shot on goal in the 91st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Remo Freire had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 94th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The Gurihu supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Gurihu would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
