In the 2nd minute the ball was on its way in behind Cortada's goalkeeper Ivo Baiano, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. 5 minutes into the match, Seixas's goalkeeper Alex Ribeiro had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Zé Roberto Freitas. When Betão Vianna came up free with the goalie in the 9th minute, the Seixas fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Betão Vianna couldn't finish the play. The supporters of Seixas booed when Cortada was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 30 match minutes in a wonderful position. Manfredo Pitta didn't get a good kick on the ball. Betão Vianna fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 32nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ivo Baiano having to interfere. An unexpected shot in the 36th minute by Luiz Pinheiro got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. A collision led to Seixas getting a freekick after 38 minutes play. Acácio Lopes hit a great ball. Luiz Pinheiro sent away a hard shot on goal in the 39th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After having played for 47 minutes, Luiz Pinheiro managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Cortada's supporters crossed their fingers, but Luiz Pinheiro was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

Mauro Cerezo could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 52nd minute of the match, but Ivo Baiano made a huge save. After 60 minutes, Celsinho Paraíba mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Cortada and the Seixas players grew even worse after the yellow card. Seixas's Ronaldo Travassos couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 61st minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Cortada. If Celsinho Paraíba had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 64th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Alex Ribeiro took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Luiz Pinheiro, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Zé Roberto Freitas had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 69th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Alex Ribeiro prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Luiz Pinheiro received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 80th minute. Alex Ribeiro tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Betão Vianna had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 83rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Celsinho Paraíba was, once again, overly rough in his play he received his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. 84 minutes had been played. The supporters of Seixas booed when Cortada was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 85 match minutes in a wonderful position. Celsinho Paraíba didn't get a good kick on the ball. When the match had gone on for 86 minutes, Betão Vianna took a quick shot and it went in 0-1 without a chance for Ivo Baiano to make any attempt to save it. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Seixas had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
