In the 7th minute Gilberto Tavares shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rômulo Santana saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in Meloso SS's zone, José Carlos Castro stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Rômulo Santana came out of the goal and José Carlos Castro tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When Taboleira's José Carlos Castro in the 15th minute got a chance for a shot 15th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. The Meloso SS fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-0. 36 minutes into the match, Meloso SS's goal looked a bit too open when Gilberto Tavares came free, but Rômulo Santana reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Rômulo Santana took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gilberto Tavares, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 40 minutes into the match, Gilberto Tavares had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Rômulo Santana. Meloso SS's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Gilberto Tavares was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-1.

When Gilberto Tavares, who was free, got the in front of the goal in the 52 minute he wasn't focused and tipped the ball just over the goal. The Rômulo Santana was delighted since the ball would have got in if it had gone under the crossbar. After 56 minutes, Cristóvão Novaes mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Meloso SS and the Taboleira players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of Taboleira booed when Meloso SS was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 56 match minutes in a wonderful position. Cristóvão Novaes didn't get a good kick on the ball. 57 minutes into the match, Meloso SS's goalkeeper Rômulo Santana had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Gilberto Tavares. When José Carlos Castro came up free with the goalie in the 62nd minute, the Taboleira fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that José Carlos Castro couldn't finish the play. An unexpectedly hard shot by José Carlos Castro in the 65th minute of play forced Meloso SS's goalkeeper Rômulo Santana to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 69th minute the ball was on its way in behind Taboleira's goalkeeper Thomás Goiano, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 73rd minute, José Carlos Castro reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Rômulo Santana. The goal made the score 1-2. After a defensive mix-up in Taboleira's zone, Amílton Esteves stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Thomás Goiano came out of the goal and Amílton Esteves tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 83rd minute, Sebastião Neto got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The crowd rose to their feet as José Carlos Castro kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Rômulo Santana. That made the score 1-3 in the 85 minute of play. If José Carlos Castro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 91st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 94 minutes into the match, Meloso SS's goalkeeper Rômulo Santana had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Gilberto Tavares. Gilberto Tavares was extremely unlucky when he, in the 96th minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. The Meloso SS fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Taboleira were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
