In the 7th play minute Róbson Monteiro came free and shot an unsuspected shot which went into goal from the right pole behind a surprised Marcus Dante. 1-0. José Maria Hoffmann hit a great freekick 10 minutes into the match. Painel's Marcus Dante played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Válbson Machado in the 12th minute of play. Albertinho Silva received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 17th minute. Marcus Dante tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. With his leg Marcus Dante managed to avoid a goal in the 19thth minute, when Tamarati's Róbson Monteiro fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. If Dráuzio Barros had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 26th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 28 minutes into the match, Isaltino Novaes notched a goal, 1-2, to the right of Tamarati's Alberto Carioca. Alberto Carioca was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Alberto Carioca showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Dráuzio Barros, who was totally free with the ball in the 39th minute. When Albertinho Silva fell near the penalty area in the 41st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Tamarati's protests and gave Albertinho Silva a yellow card for diving instead. In the 42nd match minute, Tamarati was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Albertinho Silva to maneuver through the defense.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Válbson Machado stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Tião Guedes fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 54th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Alberto Carioca having to interfere. The supporters of Painel booed when Tamarati was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 55 match minutes in a wonderful position. Américo Sena didn't get a good kick on the ball. Isaltino Novaes recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 60th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Tamarati's Alberto Carioca proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 62nd minute of the match, managed to save Tamarati from getting a goal against them. A collision led to Painel getting a freekick after 63 minutes play. Danilo de Godoy hit a great ball. If Róbson Monteiro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 67th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After some fancy dribbling in the 69th minute, Válbson Machado managed to get in a good position for a shot. Tamarati's supporters rose to their feet, but Válbson Machado was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Marcus Dante breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Válbson Machado took the ball and in the 72 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Marcus Dante. Marcus Dante dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-2. Válbson Machado's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Marcus Dante read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 78th minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Tamarati's zone, Tião Guedes stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Alberto Carioca came out of the goal and Tião Guedes tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Isaltino Novaes fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 83rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Alberto Carioca having to interfere. Dráuzio Barros had several of the Tamarati's defenders around him in the penalty area when he, after 85 minutes of play, received a pass and succeeded in some way to shoot a shot which went straight ahead into goal. This resulted in a 2-3 score and a disappointed Alberto Carioca as he didn't even see the shot coming. Dráuzio Barros fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 89th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Alberto Carioca having to interfere. After some fancy dribbling in the 96th minute, Róbson Monteiro managed to get in a good position for a shot. Tamarati's supporters rose to their feet, but Róbson Monteiro was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Marcus Dante breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Painel walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
