Spectators: 32 (Terracing: 25, Seating: 7, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Júlio Brasil started the match with the kick off. The supporters of Goiaba booed when Melancias was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 3 match minutes in a wonderful position. Dedé Luz didn't get a good kick on the ball. Adrianinho Quaresma received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 5th minute. Claudinho Paulista tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 7 minutes into the game, Daniel Santana was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Goiaba's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Melancias the free kick. An unexpectedly hard shot by Dedé Luz in the 8th minute of play forced Goiaba's goalkeeper Rubinho Tavares to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 11th minute, Dedé Luz managed to get in a good position for a shot. Melancias's supporters rose to their feet, but Dedé Luz was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Rubinho Tavares breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Melancias were awarded a corner in the 23th minute after Goiaba's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Sidney Souto took the corner. Júlio Brasil was extremely unlucky when he, in the 31st minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. In the 32nd match minute, Melancias was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ademar Barral to maneuver through the defense. Adrianinho Quaresma blasted a shot towards the goal in the 34th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Claudinho Paulista having to make a save. After 39 minutes of play Goiaba's Daniel Santana was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. In the 39th match minute, Goiaba was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Daniel Santana to maneuver through the defense. Ulisses Senna fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 43rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Claudinho Paulista having to interfere. When Dedé Luz came up free with the goalie in the 45th minute, the Melancias fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Dedé Luz couldn't finish the play. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

Rubinho Tavares made an important save on a dangerous shot by Adolfo Hermes in the 53rd minute. 57 minutes into the match, Goiaba's goal looked a bit too open when Dedé Luz came free, but Rubinho Tavares reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Adrianinho Quaresma fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 58th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Claudinho Paulista having to interfere. Patrick Quintal received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 60th minute. Claudinho Paulista tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After having played for 63 minutes, Adolfo Hermes managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Melancias's supporters crossed their fingers, but Adolfo Hermes was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Júlio Brasil's late challenge caught a Melancias's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Júlio Brasil helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, Goiaba's Júlio Brasil got a free kick in the 64th minute. Adolfo Hermes could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 67th minute of the match, but Rubinho Tavares made a huge save. Rubinho Tavares made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Dedé Luz in the 73rd minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Goiaba's zone, Dedé Luz stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Rubinho Tavares came out of the goal and Dedé Luz tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After 78 played minutes Goiaba got a freekick which was hit by Agnaldo Travassos. In the 84th minute, Melancias's Dedé Luz dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 0-1. Dedé Luz fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 92nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Rubinho Tavares having to interfere. In the 96thth minute of the game Dedé Luz who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Goiaba's Rubinho Tavares was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball.
