The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Wilson dos Santos showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Betinho Tinoco, who was totally free with the ball in the 5th minute. Patrício de Amorim hit a great ball. Luís Gustavo Freitas sent away a hard shot on goal in the 30th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Wilson dos Santos stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Luís Gustavo Freitas's shot from short distance in the 33rd minute. Betinho Tinoco received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 35th minute. Wilson dos Santos tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Patrício de Amorim hit a great freekick 38 minutes into the match. Luís Gustavo Freitas fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 39th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Wilson dos Santos having to interfere. When the match had gone on for 42 minutes, Betinho Tinoco put it in 0-1 from a short distance just to the right of Wilson dos Santos. 47 minutes into the match, Jauru's goal looked a bit too open when Luís Gustavo Freitas came free, but Wilson dos Santos reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line.

The wind increased when Luís Gustavo Freitas made the kick off in the second half. With his leg Wilson dos Santos managed to avoid a goal in the 60thth minute, when Montalvao's Betinho Tinoco fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. If Betinho Tinoco had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 63rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 67 minutes into the match, Jauru's goal looked a bit too open when Luís Gustavo Freitas came free, but Wilson dos Santos reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The audience was convinced that Leonardo Antunes's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Renato Sampaio was relentless in the 72nd minute of the game.
