When Fred Tasso fell near the penalty area in the 15th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Jericoacoara SC's protests and gave Fred Tasso a yellow card for diving instead. Raimundo Senna showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Marco Prado, who was totally free with the ball in the 17th minute. The audience was convinced that Marco Prado's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Raimundo Senna was relentless in the 21st minute of the game. 29 minutes into the game, Artur Moraes was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Jericoacoara SC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Refugio SS the free kick. Artur Moraes hit a great freekick 30 minutes into the match. Jericoacoara SC's Raimundo Senna played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Sandrinho Quadros in the 31st minute of play. If Marco Prado had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 34th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Sandrinho Quadros fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 40th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Raimundo Senna having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Osmar Soares in the 48th minute of play forced Refugio SS's goalkeeper Cléberson Paraibano to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

A collision led to Jericoacoara SC getting a freekick after 64 minutes play. Artur Moraes hit a great ball. In the 66th minute, Jericoacoara SC's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Marco Prado fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. Raimundo Senna made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Sandrinho Quadros in the 68th minute of play. In the 69th match minute, Jericoacoara SC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Breno Dracena to maneuver through the defense. In the 70th minute of the match, Sandrinho Quadros tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Raimundo Senna saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. 72 minutes into the game, Sandrinho Quadros recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Raimundo Senna. Sandrinho Quadros showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 0-1. In the 81st minute, Osmar Soares ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Cléberson Paraibano was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-1. If Sandrinho Quadros had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 84th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Raimundo Senna made an important save on a dangerous shot by Marco Prado in the 86th minute. 88 minutes into the match, Marco Prado had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Raimundo Senna. Jericoacoara SC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Marco Prado was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-2. Refugio SS's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
