In the 5th minute, Walmyr Senna got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. If Walmyr Azevedo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 13th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Luís Fábio Arruda fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 14th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Arlindo Travassos having to interfere. If Ivo Cerezo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 18th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After some careless play in the Casino defense, Ademar Nóbrega kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Arlindo Travassos. The Casino fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Arlindo Travassos should have stopped the shot. The supporters of Travessa booed when Casino was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 31 match minutes in a wonderful position. Walmyr Senna didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a rather tough play, Travessa's Walmyr Azevedo got a free kick in the 32nd minute. After the first half Travessa were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.
When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Luís Fábio Arruda made a kick off. In the 52nd minute, Travessa's Charles Lara ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Arlindo Travassos. Arlindo Travassos yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 0-2. Walmyr Azevedo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 56th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Arlindo Travassos having to interfere. Tostão Queirós kicked well hit freekick during the 57th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Luís Fábio Arruda in the 61st minute of play forced Casino's goalkeeper Arlindo Travassos to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. A collision led to Travessa getting a freekick after 67 minutes play. Luís Gustavo do Valle hit a great ball. If Walmyr Senna had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 69th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Arlindo Travassos made a fantastic save in the 75th minute, when Walmyr Azevedo sent off a good shot on target. 78 minutes into the match, Casino's goalkeeper Arlindo Travassos had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Walmyr Azevedo. After 79 minutes, Tostão Queirós mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Casino and the Travessa players grew even worse after the yellow card. Tostão Queirós kicked well hit freekick during the 79th minute of the match. Through an outstanding action, after 80 minutes, Arlindo Travassos successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. After 97 minutes Travessa's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Ronaldinho Rodrigues who took care of the corner kick. A nice corner shot did that Ronaldinho Rodrigues got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Wilson Peixoto quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save.
