After 3 played minutes Chiruan SS got a freekick which was hit by Váldson Lara. Betão Ramalho received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 6th minute. Juan Alvarenga tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 8thth minute of the game Lúcio Prado who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Chiruan SS's Juan Alvarenga was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. 9 minutes into the game, Edgard Velloso cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Thomás Prestes was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Pedrão Terra charged in rather forcefully in the 15th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Pedrão Terra the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After a rather tough play, Bengala SC's Pedrão Terra got a free kick in the 15th minute. When Alexandre do Vale fell near the penalty area in the 16th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Bengala SC's protests and gave Alexandre do Vale a yellow card for diving instead. After 16 played minutes Bengala SC got a freekick which was hit by Alexandre do Vale. 17 minutes into the match, Chiruan SS's Jânio Guimarães broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. Conrado Madureira hit a great freekick 23 minutes into the match. Juan Alvarenga stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Lúcio Prado's shot from short distance in the 30th minute. After a rather tough play, Chiruan SS's Zé Paulo Pereira got a free kick in the 30th minute. Juan Alvarenga was out of position in the 33 minute of play, and Lúcio Prado capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Lúcio Prado really showed his touch with that goal: 1-1. 37 minutes into the game, Zé Paulo Pereira was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Chiruan SS's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Bengala SC the free kick. Zé Paulo Pereira hit a great freekick 37 minutes into the match. Jacinto Leme was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 38th played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. 40 minutes into the match, Chiruan SS's Edgard Velloso sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Thomás Prestes narrowly saved just below the crossbar. 46 minutes into the match, Bengala SC's Betão Ramalho sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Juan Alvarenga narrowly saved just below the crossbar. If Betão Ramalho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 48th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The score stood at 1-1 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.
The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Magno Pombal was the one to do the kick off. After a defensive mix-up in Chiruan SS's zone, Betão Ramalho stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Juan Alvarenga came out of the goal and Betão Ramalho tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 54th match minute, Bengala SC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Chiquinho Baiano to maneuver through the defense. If Edgard Velloso had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 57th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 59th minute the ball was on its way in behind Bengala SC's goalkeeper Thomás Prestes, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Through an outstanding action, after 61 minutes, Thomás Prestes successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. A collision led to Bengala SC getting a freekick after 65 minutes play. Pedrão Terra hit a great ball. In the 66th minute, Edgard Velloso got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Juan Alvarenga didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Betão Ramalho went, in the 68th minute, to the upper right corner, 2-1 was the resulting score. When Jacinto Leme fell near the penalty area in the 76th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Bengala SC's protests and gave Jacinto Leme a yellow card for diving instead. In a very dangerous position, a player in Bengala SC fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 76th minute. Penalty! In the 79th minute, Chiruan SS got a penalty, and Jânio Guimarães placed the ball unsaveable into goal, by the right post. Lúcio Prado received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 84th minute. Juan Alvarenga tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Zé Paulo Pereira kicked well hit freekick during the 85th minute of the match. Lúcio Prado fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 88th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Juan Alvarenga having to interfere. 97 minutes into the match, Bengala SC's goalkeeper Thomás Prestes had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Edgard Velloso. After having played for 98 minutes, Edgard Velloso managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Chiruan SS's supporters crossed their fingers, but Edgard Velloso was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The teams fought very hard right up to the final whistle. Both sets of players were happy to go away with a draw.
