With a couple of smart ball manuevers Magno de Castro in the 4th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Patrício Soares saved Monteiro SC from getting behind. After a defensive mix-up in Caiaponia's zone, Alessandro Cardozo stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jardel Araújo came out of the goal and Alessandro Cardozo tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After a rather tough play, Caiaponia's Guilherme Medeiros got a free kick in the 19th minute. Caiaponia's Jardel Araújo played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by João Augusto Paraense in the 22nd minute of play. Patrício Soares made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Pedro Paulo Nóbrega in the 26th minute of play. 27 minutes into the game, Pedro Paulo Nóbrega cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Patrício Soares was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Pedro Paulo Nóbrega in the 30th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Patrício Soares prevented the ball from getting in the gole. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 33rd minute of the game. One of Caiaponia:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Monteiro SC:s goal. When the match had been going on for 35 minutes, Monteiro SC's Tibúrcio Quaresma got an opportunity to shoot a penalty. He stayed cool and waited for the goalkeeper to move, before he confidently shot the ball into the goal, to the left of Jardel Araújo. If João Augusto Paraense had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 39th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Pedro Paulo Nóbrega fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 44th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Patrício Soares having to interfere.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell João Augusto Paraense to make the kick off. 55 minutes into the match, Caiaponia's goal looked a bit too open when João Augusto Paraense came free, but Jardel Araújo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Pedro Paulo Nóbrega couldn't finish the play. 81 minutes into the match, Monteiro SC's goalkeeper Patrício Soares had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Pedro Paulo Nóbrega. 81 minutes into the game, Antônio Carlos Corrêa was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player.
