The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. A collision led to Moises getting a freekick after 2 minutes play. Luís Rodrigues received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 8th minute. Jorginho Cerezo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 18th minute João Paulo Mazza shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dida Romero saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Dida Romero showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from João Paulo Mazza, who was totally free with the ball in the 41st minute. 42 minutes into the match, Régis Neto had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Jorginho Cerezo. Moises's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Régis Neto was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-3. Manolo Ribeiro's late challenge caught a Ubai SS's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Manolo Ribeiro helped the player get up and apologised. Disappointed in the 1-3 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The wind increased when Luís Rodrigues made the kick off in the second half. If Jefferson de Azevedo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 60th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Luís Rodrigues fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 64th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jorginho Cerezo having to interfere. The audience was convinced that João Paulo Mazza's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Dida Romero was relentless in the 77th minute of the game. The Ubai SS supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Ubai SS would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
