Egídio Guerra's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Gil Guimarães read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 21st minute of play. Gualibade SS's Gil Guimarães proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 25th minute of the match, managed to save Gualibade SS from getting a goal against them. If Luizinho Zonta had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 38th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Gualibade SS's Fábio Recife got a good chance for a goal in the 41st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Elivélton Nogueira hit a great freekick 45 minutes into the match. Gil Guimarães showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Luizinho Zonta in the 47th minute of the match. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.
