Cristiano Machado charged in rather forcefully in the 13th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. After a rather tough play, Petrolandia's Cristiano Machado got a free kick in the 13th minute. In the 14thth minute of the game Edvaldo Alagoano who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Petrolandia's Cacá Torres was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Clemente Cruz's late challenge caught a Tupandi EC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Clemente Cruz helped the player get up and apologised. After 20 played minutes Petrolandia got a freekick which was hit by Agnaldo Velloso. In the 25th minute, Tupandi EC's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Váldson Bittencourt fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. When Serafim Quintal was, once again, overly rough in his play he received his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. 26 minutes had been played. A collision led to Tupandi EC getting a freekick after 27 minutes play. Serafim Quintal hit a great ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Váldson Bittencourt got free with Edu Damião in the 31st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Edvaldo Alagoano fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 37th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Cacá Torres having to interfere. In the 45th minute, Ian de Carvalho hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Edvaldo Alagoano struck a weak shot in the 46th minute. Cacá Torres didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Tupandi EC. In the 49th minute, Petrolandia's Ian de Carvalho dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-0. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

The wind increased when Váldson Bittencourt made the kick off in the second half. A collision led to Tupandi EC getting a freekick after 60 minutes play. Hortêncio de Souza hit a great ball. If Váldson Bittencourt had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 67th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After having played for 71 minutes, Váldson Bittencourt managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Petrolandia's supporters crossed their fingers, but Váldson Bittencourt was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Edu Damião showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Váldson Bittencourt, who was totally free with the ball in the 77th minute. Edvaldo Alagoano might have been able to make a better finish in the 83rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Cacá Torres. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Edvaldo Alagoano ran back to his position shaking his head. Edvaldo Alagoano sent away a hard shot on goal in the 86th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 88th minute the ball was on its way in behind Petrolandia's goalkeeper Cacá Torres, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After a rather tough play, Tupandi EC's Luís Paulo Queirós got a free kick in the 90th minute. Petrolandia's Romeu Brasil got a good chance for a goal in the 91st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Hortêncio de Souza struck a weak shot in the 98th minute. Cacá Torres didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Tupandi EC. Tupandi EC's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
