If Zé Carlos Freitas had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 12th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Lucas Arósio who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 23rdth minute tested the skills of Adam Zakrzewski when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Claudinei Nascimento received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 24th minute. Adam Zakrzewski tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Lucas Arósio might have been able to make a better finish in the 28th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Adam Zakrzewski. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Lucas Arósio ran back to his position shaking his head. The supporters of C. R. Flamengo booed when Fogão SR was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 29 match minutes in a wonderful position. Dieguinho Severo didn't get a good kick on the ball. A collision led to C. R. Flamengo getting a freekick after 33 minutes play. Cipriano Silveira hit a great ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Samuca Matos in the 34th minute of play forced C. R. Flamengo's goalkeeper Eusébio Vergílio to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Eriberto de Amorim hit a great freekick 38 minutes into the match. Zé Carlos Freitas fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 41st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Eusébio Vergílio having to interfere. The score stood at 0-0 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

R. Flamengo's Eusébio Vergílio. Eusébio Vergílio was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Flamengo were clearly unhappy with the draw, as they felt they had done enough to earn themselves a victory.
