In the 16th minute the ball was on its way in behind Itacaramby SC's goalkeeper Glauco de Senna, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. When Alfredinho Melo fell near the penalty area in the 17th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Itacaramby SC's protests and gave Alfredinho Melo a yellow card for diving instead. After 17 played minutes Itacaramby SC got a freekick which was hit by Alfredinho Melo. Dortmund JF's Caetano Barbosa got a good chance for a goal in the 18th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The supporters of Dortmund JF booed when Itacaramby SC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 19 match minutes in a wonderful position. Horácio Meira didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Caetano Barbosa had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 20th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Caetano Barbosa's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Glauco de Senna read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 23rd minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Caetano Barbosa in the 25th minute of play forced Itacaramby SC's goalkeeper Glauco de Senna to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Glauco de Senna made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Percival Negri in the 32nd minute of play. If Caetano Barbosa had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 43rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Arí Simões fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 46th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Fred Castro having to interfere. After 49 played minutes Dortmund JF got a freekick which was hit by Dagoberto Eger. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

53 minutes into the game, Genílson Simão was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Dortmund JF's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Itacaramby SC the free kick. The supporters of Itacaramby SC booed when Dortmund JF was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 53 match minutes in a wonderful position. Genílson Simão didn't get a good kick on the ball. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Caetano Barbosa in the 65th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Glauco de Senna prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After having played for 70 minutes, Caetano Barbosa managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Dortmund JF's supporters crossed their fingers, but Caetano Barbosa was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Caetano Barbosa in the 74th minute of play forced Itacaramby SC's goalkeeper Glauco de Senna to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Caetano Barbosa sent away a hard shot on goal in the 81st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. With a little luck, Itacaramby SC's Glauco de Senna got control of the ball when Percival Negri tried to sneak it across the goal line. Percival Negri recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 86th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Percival Negri might have been able to make a better finish in the 88th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Glauco de Senna. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Percival Negri ran back to his position shaking his head. When Alfredinho Melo was, once again, overly rough in his play he received his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. 89 minutes had been played. If Percival Negri had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 91st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Walmir Barral struck a weak shot in the 94th minute. Fred Castro didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Itacaramby SC. In the 98th match minute, Dortmund JF was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Genílson Simão to maneuver through the defense. Neither set of supporters seemed pleased with the draw, but both teams had played equally well today.
