Rui Trigo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 4th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Guga Souza having to interfere. 6 minutes into the game, one of Galicia EC:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. Galicia EC:s Gencho Karaganev showed great skill when he stopped Mesut Özil:s penalty. Gencho Karaganev made an important save on a dangerous shot by Gabriel de Souza in the 9th minute. Augusto Moura fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 10th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gencho Karaganev having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Augusto Moura in the 12th minute of play forced Galicia EC's goalkeeper Gencho Karaganev to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Gabriel de Souza recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 14th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 16th minute, Gabriel de Souza got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 18 minutes into the match, Gabriel de Souza notched a goal, 1-0, to the right of Galicia EC's Gencho Karaganev. Gencho Karaganev was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. The supporters of Clube de Regatas MEC booed when Galicia EC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 22 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ronaldão Sousa didn't get a good kick on the ball. Galicia EC's Gencho Karaganev proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 23rd minute of the match, managed to save Galicia EC from getting a goal against them. If Rui Trigo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 26th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 28 minutes into the match, Galicia EC's David Alegren sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Guga Souza narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 31st minute, Rui Trigo left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Galicia EC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-1. In the 35th minute Augusto Moura shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gencho Karaganev saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Guga Souza showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from David Alegren, who was totally free with the ball in the 36th minute. 40 minutes into the match, Galicia EC's goal looked a bit too open when Augusto Moura came free, but Gencho Karaganev reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and David Alegren made a kick off. David Alegren received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 55th minute. Guga Souza tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 57 played minutes Clube de Regatas MEC got a freekick which was hit by Gabriel de Souza. A collision led to Galicia EC getting a freekick after 58 minutes play. Emerson Ferreira hit a great ball. Augusto Moura received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 60th minute. Gencho Karaganev tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Rui Trigo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 64th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Guga Souza showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from David Alegren, who was totally free with the ball in the 65th minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 72nd minute, David Alegren managed to get in a good position for a shot. Galicia EC's supporters rose to their feet, but David Alegren was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Guga Souza breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Guga Souza didn't succeed in stopping the ball in the 78th minute, which inside left pole to 1-2. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gabriel de Souza in the 82nd minute of play forced Galicia EC's goalkeeper Gencho Karaganev to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. David Alegren's late challenge caught a Clube de Regatas MEC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. David Alegren helped the player get up and apologised. After 85 played minutes Galicia EC got a freekick which was hit by David Alegren. In the 90th minute of the match, Rui Trigo tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Guga Souza saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. In the 90th play minute Rui Trigo came free and shot an unsuspected shot which went into goal from the right pole behind a surprised Guga Souza. 1-3. Rui Trigo struck a weak shot in the 94th minute. Guga Souza didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Galicia EC. After a rather tough play, Clube de Regatas MEC's Alexsandro Ramalho got a free kick in the 95th minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 96th minute, Ronaldão Sousa managed to get in a good position for a shot. Galicia EC's supporters rose to their feet, but Ronaldão Sousa was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Guga Souza breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. When the match was over Galicia EC could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Clube de Regatas MEC throughout the match.
