If Quiróz Arozamena had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 10th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 16th minute, Anderson Arce hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Noel Cardoso didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Quiróz Arozamena went, in the 21st minute, to the upper right corner, 1-0 was the resulting score. If Leonardo de Queiroz had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 25th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When the match had gone on for 30 minutes, Quiróz Arozamena put it in 2-0 from a short distance just to the right of Noel Cardoso. The audience was convinced that Quiróz Arozamena's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Noel Cardoso was relentless in the 34th minute of the game. Noel Cardoso showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Quiróz Arozamena in the 40th minute of the match. Quiróz Arozamena recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 42nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After a defensive mix-up in Medina's zone, Aníbal Ortiz stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Noel Cardoso came out of the goal and Aníbal Ortiz tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 45thth minute of the game Quiróz Arozamena who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Medina's Noel Cardoso was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.
Leonardo de Queiroz sent away a hard shot on goal in the 51st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After having played for 55 minutes, Alfredinho Andrade managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Itaguacu's supporters crossed their fingers, but Alfredinho Andrade was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. When the match had gone on for 58 minutes, Quiróz Arozamena put it in 4-0 from a short distance just to the right of Noel Cardoso. 60 minutes into the game, Itaguacu's Quiróz Arozamena nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Noel Cardoso made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 5-0. In the 71st match minute, Medina was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Sidnei Hames to maneuver through the defense. A collision led to Itaguacu getting a freekick after 72 minutes play. Aníbal Ortiz hit a great ball. Noel Cardoso made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Quiróz Arozamena in the 74th minute of play. If Quiróz Arozamena had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 78th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Mauro Peres fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 84th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Noel Cardoso having to interfere. The supporters of Medina booed when Itaguacu was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 92 match minutes in a wonderful position. Aníbal Ortiz didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 94 minutes of play, Medina's Sidnei Hames made it 8-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Romário Britto was left in no man's land by his defense there! Itaguacu walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
