Edmundo Valle hit a great freekick 17 minutes into the match. Marcelo de Barros's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Murilo Leal read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 24th minute of play. Marcelo de Barross short, quick shot in the 28thth minute got Murilo Leal to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Antoniao SS's Marco Peixoto quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. Marcelo de Barros could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 36th minute of the match, but Murilo Leal made a huge save. 39 minutes into the game, Oscar do Valle was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Antoniao SS's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Clube Atlético Riacho the free kick. The supporters of Clube Atlético Riacho booed when Antoniao SS was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 39 match minutes in a wonderful position. Oscar do Valle didn't get a good kick on the ball. Murilo Leal took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Oscar do Valle, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Oscar do Valle was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 44th minute. Antoniao SS's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

Antoniao SS's supporters crossed their fingers, but Oscar do Valle was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Gilson Arce during the 67th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The supporters of Antoniao SS booed when Clube Atlético Riacho was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 67 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gilson Arce didn't get a good kick on the ball. Eduardo de Mendonça's late challenge caught a Clube Atlético Riacho's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Eduardo de Mendonça helped the player get up and apologised. Eduardo de Mendonça hit a great freekick 70 minutes into the match. Oscar do Valle struck a weak shot in the 76th minute. Murilo Leal didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Antoniao SS.
