The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. If Alessandro Silveira had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 3rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 4th minute the ball was on its way in behind Guabirabas SC's goalkeeper Sebastião Alves, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Verdadeiros's Ismael Dante shoveled away a really nice long shot in the 7th minute of play. The shot was stopped by Sebastião Alves but with some difficulty. In the 10th minute of the match Thiago Loyola shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Sebastião Godoi showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. In the 12th minute, João Vítor Neiva hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Pedro Luís Machado who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 20thth minute tested the skills of Sebastião Alves when he managed to save the team from getting behind. If Pedro Luís Machado had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 27th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 34th minute Alessandro Silveira shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Sebastião Alves saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After some careless play in the Guabirabas SC defense, Pedro Luís Machado kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Sebastião Alves. The Guabirabas SC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Sebastião Alves should have stopped the shot. Pedro Luís Machado recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 39th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Alessandro Silveira in the 41st minute of play forced Guabirabas SC's goalkeeper Sebastião Alves to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Pedro Luís Machado blasted a shot towards the goal in the 45th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Sebastião Alves having to make a save. In the 47th minute, Alessandro Silveira made a precise shot to the right of Sebastião Alves. Guabirabas SC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-0. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-0.

Alessandro Silveira received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 68th minute. Sebastião Alves tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Alessandro Silveira blasted a shot towards the goal in the 71st minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Sebastião Alves having to make a save. Nilton Lara fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 80th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Sebastião Godoi having to interfere. 85 minutes into the match, Guabirabas SC's goal looked a bit too open when Alessandro Silveira came free, but Sebastião Alves reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Verdadeiros's Alessandro Silveira got a good chance for a goal in the 89th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Pedro Luís Machado in the 90th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Sebastião Alves prevented the ball from getting in the gole. 91 minutes into the game, Manuel Paiva was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Guabirabas SC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Verdadeiros the free kick. 92 minutes into the match, Guabirabas SC's goal looked a bit too open when Pedro Luís Machado came free, but Sebastião Alves reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 93rd minute Alessandro Silveira shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Sebastião Alves saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Pedro Luís Machado blasted a shot towards the goal in the 95th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Sebastião Alves having to make a save. Guabirabas SC's Manuel Paiva got his second yellow card of the match in the 96th minute. The referee ordered Manuel Paiva off the ground. The supporters of Verdadeiros booed when Guabirabas SC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 97 match minutes in a wonderful position. Manuel Paiva didn't get a good kick on the ball. Guabirabas SC's Sebastião Alves played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Alessandro Silveira in the 98th minute of play. Guabirabas SC's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
