Eugênio Tasso made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Luís Fábio Travassos in the 3rd minute of play. After 3 played minutes Solar Group FC got a freekick which was hit by César Aguiar. After some careless play in the Solar Group FC defense, Luís Fábio Travassos kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Eugênio Tasso. The Solar Group FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Eugênio Tasso should have stopped the shot. If Luís Fábio Travassos had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 8th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a rather tough play, Resende's Nilson Matorin got a free kick in the 10th minute. In the 14thth minute of the game Víktor Correia who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Resende's Jerônimo Mattos was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Víktor Correia received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 16th minute. Jerônimo Mattos tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 18 minutes into the match, Resende's goal looked a bit too open when Víktor Correia came free, but Jerônimo Mattos reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 21st minute, Jarbas Moreira got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Eugênio Tasso acted impressively in front of the goal and made a superb save when he, in the 23rd minute, took the ball on the long shot from Victor Cabral. Luís Fábio Travassos blasted a shot towards the goal in the 26th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Eugênio Tasso having to make a save. André Luís Leão's late challenge caught a Resende's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. André Luís Leão helped the player get up and apologised. André Luís Leão kicked well hit freekick during the 28th minute of the match. The long shot by Cássio Carneiro in the 29th minute really tested Eugênio Tasso's skills. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. Geovânio Guimarães charged in rather forcefully in the 30th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Geovânio Guimarães the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Geovânio Guimarães hit a great freekick 30 minutes into the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 31st minute, Víktor Correia managed to get in a good position for a shot. Solar Group FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Víktor Correia was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Jerônimo Mattos breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 35th minute, Víktor Correia ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Jerônimo Mattos was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-1. A collision led to Solar Group FC getting a freekick after 40 minutes play. André Luís Leão hit a great ball. In the 44th minute Víktor Correia shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jerônimo Mattos saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The score stood at 1-1 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.
The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Víktor Correia stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. After 53 minutes Resende's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Oséas Tinoco who took care of the corner kick. The corner led Solar Group FC's Víktor Correia to fire away a dangerous shot which Jerônimo Mattos despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. In the 57th minute, Víktor Correia fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Jerônimo Mattos, passed just outside the right post. A collision led to Resende getting a freekick after 58 minutes play. Valdir Alcântara hit a great ball. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Víktor Correia in the 61st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Jerônimo Mattos saved Resende from getting behind. In the 65th minute, Jarbas Moreira left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Solar Group FC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-2. After a defensive mix-up in Solar Group FC's zone, Nilson Matorin stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Eugênio Tasso came out of the goal and Nilson Matorin tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 76 minutes into the game, Resende's Luís Fábio Travassos nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Eugênio Tasso made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-2. 79 minutes into the game, Oséas Tinoco was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Solar Group FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Resende the free kick. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 79th minute of the game. One of Solar Group FC:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Resende:s goal. The referee gave Resende a penalty, 81 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Cássio Carneiro, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Solar Group FC's Eugênio Tasso. 3-2. After some fancy dribbling in the 89th minute, Jarbas Moreira managed to get in a good position for a shot. Solar Group FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Jarbas Moreira was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Jerônimo Mattos breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. When Víktor Correia came up free with the goalie in the 91st minute, the Solar Group FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Víktor Correia couldn't finish the play. When the referee blew the final whistle, Resende could leave the field as winners, despite Solar Group FC having more of the ball for most of the match.
