To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. If Jânio Soares had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 7th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Jânio Soares fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 10th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Luiz Fernando Meira having to interfere. In the 11th match minute, Tabao was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Durval Secco to maneuver through the defense. During the 13th minute of the match Durval Secco completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Durval Secco a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. The audience thought a goal was coming when Guga Zanette got free with Luiz Fernando Meira in the 66th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jânio Soares in the 70th minute of play forced Tabao's goalkeeper Luiz Fernando Meira to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Jorge de Amaral blasted a shot towards the goal in the 74th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Luiz Fernando Meira having to make a save. In the 75th minute, Vasto AD's Jânio Soares ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Luiz Fernando Meira. Luiz Fernando Meira yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 0-2. With a little luck, Tabao's Luiz Fernando Meira got control of the ball when Jorge de Amaral tried to sneak it across the goal line. Jorge de Amaral received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 86th minute. Luiz Fernando Meira tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 94 minutes into the game, Tabao's Léo Mendes nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Cauã Prestes made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-2.
