Jailson Paraibano, 4 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. Eliézer Diniz charged in rather forcefully in the 5th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The Convento FC fans' excitement grew in the 19th match minute when Convento FC's Rogério de Senna looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Convento FC's Juninho Cerezo played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Romário Lima in the 27th minute of play. Convento FC's defense didn't have a chance, in the 28th minute, when Romário Lima scored to the left of an out of position Juninho Cerezo, making the score, 1-1. After 30 minutes, Amauri Tróia mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Convento FC and the Votuverava players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 31st match minute, Convento FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Amauri Tróia to maneuver through the defense. Romário Lima received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 33rd minute. Juninho Cerezo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The Votuverava fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that André Luiz Urbano should have stopped the shot. Jailson Paraibano took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 98th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for André Luiz Urbano. Votuverava's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line.
