Iaunari's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Serginho Monteiro was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. If Nilmar Costa had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 8th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a defensive mix-up in Iaunari's zone, Serginho Monteiro stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Reynaldo Moraes came out of the goal and Serginho Monteiro tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When Carobas's Nilmar Costa in the 16th minute got a chance for a shot 16th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Iaunari's goalie prevented a goal. In the 19th minute, Horácio Sampaio got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After some fancy dribbling in the 25th minute, Nilmar Costa managed to get in a good position for a shot. Carobas's supporters rose to their feet, but Nilmar Costa was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Reynaldo Moraes breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Tiaguinho Corrêa received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 27th minute. Sílvio Luiz Fonseca tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Nilmar Costa in the 37th minute of play forced Iaunari's goalkeeper Reynaldo Moraes to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Joel Mandrak came up free with the goalie in the 39th minute, the Iaunari fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Joel Mandrak couldn't finish the play. Carobas's Sílvio Luiz Fonseca played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Horácio Sampaio in the 43rd minute of play. Serginho Monteiro sent away a hard shot on goal in the 45th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The Iaunari players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Carobas were winning 0-1.
