In the 4thth minute of the game Vágner Koehler who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Jericoaquara SC's Dorian Maranhense was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Marquinhos Cearense blasted a shot towards the goal in the 5th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Dorian Maranhense having to make a save. If Marquinhos Cearense had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 8th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. 11 minutes into the match, Jericoaquara SC's goal looked a bit too open when Vágner Koehler came free, but Dorian Maranhense reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When %teams%'s Vágner Koehler was free in front of goal, he didn't hesitate to shoot 1-0 just inside the left pole, 12 minutes into the game. Dorian Maranhense was annoyed at himself for letting in the shot. After 18 minutes, Cleiton Sá mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Santos and the Jericoaquara SC players grew even worse after the yellow card. A collision led to Santos getting a freekick after 18 minutes play. Cleiton Sá hit a great ball. Santos's Vágner Koehler got a good chance for a goal in the 23rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After a rather tough play, Santos's Cleiton Sá got a free kick in the 24th minute. After a defensive mix-up in Jericoaquara SC's zone, Marquinhos Cearense stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Dorian Maranhense came out of the goal and Marquinhos Cearense tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Raí Vides's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Hílton Branco read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 31st minute of play. In the 34th minute of the match, Marquinhos Cearense got a very nice opportunity to score, but Dorian Maranhense was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. Marquinhos Cearense sent away a hard shot on goal in the 36th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Wilson Britto during the 39th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 40th minute, Wilson Britto hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After some fancy dribbling in the 41st minute, Vágner Koehler managed to get in a good position for a shot. Santos's supporters rose to their feet, but Vágner Koehler was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Dorian Maranhense breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After 42 played minutes Jericoaquara SC got a freekick which was hit by Wilson Britto. When the match had gone on for 43 minutes, Vágner Koehler took a quick shot and it went in 2-0 without a chance for Dorian Maranhense to make any attempt to save it. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Magno Borges during the 47th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The supporters of Jericoaquara SC booed when Santos was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 47 match minutes in a wonderful position. Magno Borges didn't get a good kick on the ball. Mário Catarinense took the ball and in the 49 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Hílton Branco. Hílton Branco dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-1. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-1.

Vágner Koehler fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 55th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Dorian Maranhense having to interfere. Jericoaquara SC's Dorian Maranhense played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Marquinhos Cearense in the 57th minute of play. Vágner Koehler fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 66th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Dorian Maranhense having to interfere. Dorian Maranhense took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Vágner Koehler, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Dorian Maranhense stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Vágner Koehler's shot from short distance in the 87th minute. Dorian Maranhense showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Marquinhos Cearense, who was totally free with the ball in the 89th minute. After 91 played minutes Jericoaquara SC got a freekick which was hit by Rubinho Fantini. When Santos's Vágner Koehler in the 96th minute got a chance for a shot 96th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Jericoaquara SC's goalie prevented a goal. Santos's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
