After a rather tough play, Cumari EC's João Vítor da Silveira got a free kick in the 51st minute. Lustosa's Juninho Lima played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by José Maria Prestes in the 55th minute of play. Cumari EC's José Maria Prestes got a good chance for a goal in the 57th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 60th minute, Ricardo Valle ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Aníbal Mendes was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. Aníbal Mendes took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gugu da Cunha, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Cumari EC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Olavo Vergílio was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-2. Aníbal Mendes made a fantastic save in the 91st minute, when Ricardo Valle sent off a good shot on target. José Maria Prestes hit a great freekick 92 minutes into the match. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Lustosa eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
