In the 9th minute the ball was on its way in behind Quintaus AD's goalkeeper Tony do Vale, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Abelardo Guimarães hit a great freekick 10 minutes into the match. An unexpected shot in the 13th minute by Adriano Bertassi got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. In the 17th minute of the match, Adriano Bertassi got a very nice opportunity to score, but Ronaldo Meireles was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 30th minute of the match Abelardo Guimarães sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Ronaldo Meireles skillfully saved the ball. A collision led to Portella SC getting a freekick after 31 minutes play. Kléber Sá hit a great ball. In the 36th minute Donato Corrêa shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ronaldo Meireles saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Gilberto Carvalho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 40th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Gilberto Carvalho was the one to do the kick off. Edgar Barreto's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Ronaldo Meireles read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 51st minute of play. Portella SC's Ronaldo Meireles played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ronaldinho Guerra in the 52nd minute of play. Portella SC were awarded a corner in the 56th minute after Quintaus AD's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Fernandinho Lopes took the corner. The supporters of Quintaus AD booed when Portella SC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 56 match minutes in a wonderful position. Róbson Barbosa didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 59 played minutes Portella SC got a freekick which was hit by Róbson Barbosa. An unexpected shot in the 61st minute by Célio Barreto got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. Donato Corrêa struck a weak shot in the 77th minute. Ronaldo Meireles didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Quintaus AD. When Adriano Bertassi came up free with the goalie in the 81st minute, the Quintaus AD fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Adriano Bertassi couldn't finish the play. 84 minutes into the game, Adriano Bertassi cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-0. Ronaldo Meireles was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Tony do Vale didn't succeed in stopping the ball in the 92nd minute, which inside left pole to 1-1. The final whistle blew with the score still tied, and both teams left the pitch thinking about the missed chances that could have given their team the win.
