Ernesto de Castro sent away a hard shot on goal in the 13th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Gonçalo Urbano fell near the penalty area in the 18th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Sapecado's protests and gave Gonçalo Urbano a yellow card for diving instead. Robinho Diniz's late challenge caught a Sapecado's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Robinho Diniz helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Sapecado booed when Itapare AD was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 23 match minutes in a wonderful position. Robinho Diniz didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 24th minute, Jorginho Arruda made a precise shot to the right of Belchior Hoffmann. Itapare AD's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-1. Jorginho Arruda scored 0-2 in the 29th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Belchior Hoffmann, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. 37 minutes into the match, Sapecado's goal looked a bit too open when Ernesto de Castro came free, but Chicão Félix reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Belchior Hoffmann made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Christiano Damião in the 41st minute of play. After the first half Sapecado were leading 0-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Ernesto de Castro struck a weak shot in the 52nd minute. Chicão Félix didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Itapare AD. When Evandro Maciel came up free with the goalie in the 56th minute, the Itapare AD fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Evandro Maciel couldn't finish the play. Itapare AD's Ernesto de Castro got a good chance for a goal in the 59th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Ernesto de Castro received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 64th minute. Chicão Félix tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Evandro Maciel had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 77th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The crowd rose to their feet as Sapecado's Jorginho Arruda slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Belchior Hoffmann. That made the score 1-3 after 80 minutes of play. 88 minutes into the game, Itapare AD's Evandro Maciel nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Chicão Félix made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-3. Although Itapare AD had been in control for most of the match, Sapecado still came away with the win.
