The tension between the Humberto and the Itiuca players grew even worse after the yellow card. The audience was convinced that Alfredão Sá's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Dadá Toscano was relentless in the 23rd minute of the game. 26 minutes into the game, Humberto's Rafinha Queirós nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Vinícius Ramalho made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. Alfredão Sá received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 30th minute. Dadá Toscano tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The audience thought a goal was coming when Cléber Xavier got free with Dadá Toscano in the 33rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 37 minutes into the game, Cássio Rossi was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Itiuca's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Humberto the free kick. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-1.

Carlos Augusto Gaúcho recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 55th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Vinícius Ramalho showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Carlos Augusto Gaúcho, who was totally free with the ball in the 63rd minute. After 69 played minutes Itiuca got a freekick which was hit by Baltazar Veloso. Cléber Xavier fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 85th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Dadá Toscano having to interfere. A collision led to Itiuca getting a freekick after 87 minutes play. Luiz Paulo Queiroz hit a great ball. In the 94th minute of the match, Rafinha Queirós got a very nice opportunity to score, but Vinícius Ramalho was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. If Carlos Augusto Gaúcho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 95th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The Humberto supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Humberto would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
