The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Luizinho Andrade charged in rather forcefully in the 3rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Luizinho Andrade the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Dadá Toscano showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Moisés Meireles, who was totally free with the ball in the 4th minute. In the 7thth minute of the game Dito Furtado who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Humberto's Dadá Toscano was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. If Dito Furtado had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 9th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Elivélton Machado came up free with the goalie in the 11th minute, the Pimentel fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Elivélton Machado couldn't finish the play. Rafinha Queirós fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 13th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Amadeu Quadros having to interfere. Flavinho Fantini sent away a hard shot on goal in the 17th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Dito Furtado's late challenge caught a Humberto's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Dito Furtado helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Humberto booed when Pimentel was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 20 match minutes in a wonderful position. Dito Furtado didn't get a good kick on the ball. 21 minutes into the match, Pimentel's Flavinho Fantini sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Dadá Toscano narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Dadá Toscano was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. 37 minutes into the match, Pimentel's goal looked a bit too open when Carlos Augusto Gaúcho came free, but Amadeu Quadros reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Rafinha Queirós could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 46th minute of the match, but Amadeu Quadros made a huge save. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-2.
When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Dito Furtado made a kick off. Rafinha Queirós might have been able to make a better finish in the 70th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Amadeu Quadros. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Rafinha Queirós ran back to his position shaking his head. When Carlos Augusto Gaúcho came up free with the goalie in the 71st minute, the Humberto fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Carlos Augusto Gaúcho couldn't finish the play. Carlos Augusto Gaúcho took the ball and in the 80 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Amadeu Quadros. Amadeu Quadros dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-3. Carlos Augusto Gaúcho struck a weak shot in the 84th minute. Amadeu Quadros didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Humberto. When Carlos Augusto Gaúcho came up free with the goalie in the 95th minute, the Humberto fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Carlos Augusto Gaúcho couldn't finish the play. Carlos Augusto Gaúcho sent away a hard shot on goal in the 96th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance.
