Baltazar Veloso's late challenge caught a Bicudo SC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Baltazar Veloso helped the player get up and apologised. In the 22nd match minute, Itiuca was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Baltazar Veloso to maneuver through the defense. Bicudo SC's Afonsinho de Barros couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 22nd minute. Itiuca's supporters crossed their fingers, but Cléber Xavier was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. If Alfredão Sá had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 44th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. A collision led to Bicudo SC getting a freekick after 45 minutes play. Raimundo Marquez hit a great ball. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-1.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Faustão Linares to make the kick off. In the 59th minute, Zé Roberto Souza fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Vinícius Ramalho, passed just outside the right post.
