Digo Miranda recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 10th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 18 minutes into the match, Mazinho Correia had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Lino Cruz. Meloso's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Mazinho Correia was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. Meloso's Lino Cruz played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Mazinho Correia in the 22nd minute of play. 25 minutes into the game, one of Meloso:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. Mazinho Correia blasted a shot towards the goal in the 31st minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Lino Cruz having to make a save. Mazinho Correia sent away a hard shot on goal in the 32nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Horácio Campidelis during the 36th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 36 played minutes Mariental FC got a freekick which was hit by Horácio Campidelis. Álvaro Freitas sent away a hard shot on goal in the 40th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After some fancy dribbling in the 48th minute, Rodriguinho Bueno managed to get in a good position for a shot. Meloso's supporters rose to their feet, but Rodriguinho Bueno was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Romário Mumbach breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

An unexpectedly hard shot by Mazinho Correia in the 53rd minute of play forced Meloso's goalkeeper Lino Cruz to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Anderson Peres, 63 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. A collision led to Meloso getting a freekick after 73 minutes play. Digo Miranda hit a great ball. Meloso's Álvaro Freitas got a good chance for a goal in the 75th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Rodriguinho Bueno fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 80th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Romário Mumbach having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in Mariental FC's zone, Álvaro Freitas stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Romário Mumbach came out of the goal and Álvaro Freitas tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Rodriguinho Bueno received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 84th minute. Romário Mumbach tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Romário Mumbach showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Rodriguinho Bueno, who was totally free with the ball in the 86th minute. Horácio Campidelis got his second yellow card in the match during the 86th minute which meant that he had to leave the ground. A collision led to Mariental FC getting a freekick after 87 minutes play. Horácio Campidelis hit a great ball. When Meloso's Rodriguinho Bueno in the 89th minute got a chance for a shot 89th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Mariental FC's goalie prevented a goal. If Álvaro Freitas had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 97th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When the final whistle went the supporters of Mariental FC were delighted that their team had defeated the much more dominant Meloso side.
