The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. An unexpectedly hard shot by Umberto Monteiro in the 6th minute of play forced Jardinopolis's goalkeeper Benjamin Alcântara to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 11 played minutes Jardinopolis got a freekick which was hit by Tião Araújo. Onhapora's Chico Mazza proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 17th minute of the match, managed to save Onhapora from getting a goal against them. Jardinopolis's Fernandinho Prado got a good chance for a goal in the 19th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The supporters of Jardinopolis booed when Onhapora was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 20 match minutes in a wonderful position. Benê de Carvalho didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 29th minute Umberto Monteiro shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Benjamin Alcântara saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in Onhapora's zone, Washington Figueiredo stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Chico Mazza came out of the goal and Washington Figueiredo tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After 33 minutes of play, Jardinopolis's Washington Figueiredo made it 1-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Chico Mazza was left in no man's land by his defense there! Fernandinho Prado was extremely unlucky when he, in the 36th minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. In the 39th minute, Reinaldo Alvarenga hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 40 minutes into the match, Jardinopolis's Reginaldo Andrade broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. After a defensive mix-up in Onhapora's zone, Washington Figueiredo stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Alexandre Cordeiro was the one to do the kick off. 52 minutes into the match, Washington Figueiredo had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Chico Mazza. Onhapora's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Washington Figueiredo was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-0. Alexandre Cordeiro struck a weak shot in the 56th minute. Benjamin Alcântara didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Onhapora. Washington Figueiredo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 58th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Chico Mazza showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Washington Figueiredo in the 61st minute of the match. Onhapora's Chico Mazza played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Fernandinho Prado in the 65th minute of play. If Alexandre Cordeiro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 69th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The supporters of Onhapora booed when Jardinopolis was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 72 match minutes in a wonderful position. Evaristo Bittencourt didn't get a good kick on the ball. Chico Mazza made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Fernandinho Prado in the 75th minute of play. In the 87th match minute, Jardinopolis was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Fernandinho Prado to maneuver through the defense. After having played for 89 minutes, Alexandre Cordeiro managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Onhapora's supporters crossed their fingers, but Alexandre Cordeiro was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 91 minutes into the game, Tomé Toledo was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Onhapora's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Jardinopolis the free kick. After a rather tough play, Onhapora's Tomé Toledo got a free kick in the 91st minute. In the 94th minute of the match Jardinopolis got a corner. Onhapora's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Reginaldo Andrade ran over to the corner to take the kick. A hard, long distance shot from Umberto Monteiro flew over the goal. Jardinopolis's supporters were highly satisfied with the result. They cheered their team of the pitch, having watched them win a very even match.
