Seating: 8, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Luiz Fábio Bastos started the match with the kick off. After a rather tough play, Meruoca's Oswaldo Gerber got a free kick in the 7th minute. Tibúrcio do Valle made an important save on a dangerous shot by Flávio Paraense in the 10th minute. When Evandro Lucas fell near the penalty area in the 12th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Sport Recife's protests and gave Evandro Lucas a yellow card for diving instead. After 12 played minutes Sport Recife got a freekick which was hit by Evandro Lucas. 15 minutes into the match, Meruoca's Mateus Favoretto sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Doriva Paranaense narrowly saved just below the crossbar. The audience thought a goal was coming when Flávio Paraense got free with Tibúrcio do Valle in the 18th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 20th minute Mateus Favoretto shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Doriva Paranaense saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Flávio Paraense received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 27th minute. Tibúrcio do Valle tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Doriva Paranaense showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Luiz Fábio Bastos in the 29th minute of the match. After having played for 38 minutes, Flávio Paraense managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Sport Recife's supporters crossed their fingers, but Flávio Paraense was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 42 minutes into the game, Flávio Paraense recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Tibúrcio do Valle. Flávio Paraense showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-0. Flávio Paraense recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 46th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Meruoca's Mateus Favoretto got a good chance for a goal in the 48th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.
The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Valdir Brodel to strike the kick off in the second half. After some careless play in the Meruoca defense, Flávio Paraense kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Tibúrcio do Valle. The Meruoca fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Tibúrcio do Valle should have stopped the shot. In the 60th minute, Valdir Brodel made a precise shot to the right of Tibúrcio do Valle. Meruoca's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 3-0. Valdir Brodel recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 64th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Tibúrcio do Valle didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Flávio Paraense went, in the 66th minute, to the upper right corner, 4-0 was the resulting score. 70 minutes into the match, Meruoca's goal looked a bit too open when Valdir Brodel came free, but Tibúrcio do Valle reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Tibúrcio do Valle took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Valdir Brodel, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Evandro Lucas got his second yellow card in the match during the 76th minute which meant that he had to leave the ground. The supporters of Meruoca booed when Sport Recife was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 77 match minutes in a wonderful position. Evandro Lucas didn't get a good kick on the ball. Flávio Paraense received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 78th minute. Tibúrcio do Valle tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Flávio Paraense fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 83rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Tibúrcio do Valle having to interfere. 84 minutes into the match, Meruoca's goal looked a bit too open when Valdir Brodel came free, but Tibúrcio do Valle reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Flávio Paraense took the ball and in the 85 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Tibúrcio do Valle. Tibúrcio do Valle dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 6-0. In the 94th match minute, Meruoca was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Luís Gustavo Vander to maneuver through the defense. Sport Recife's Flávio Paraense got a good chance for a goal in the 95th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Flávio Paraense fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 97th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Tibúrcio do Valle having to interfere. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. Sport Recife fully deserved thier win.
