The sun was shining, the grass was green and the audience cheered when Basílio Lucas got the match started through his kick off. 3 minutes into the match, Fred Pontes had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Egídio Carioca. Manduri's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Fred Pontes was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-0. Fred Pontes fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 9th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Egídio Carioca having to interfere. The supporters of Manduri booed when Goes SS was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 13 match minutes in a wonderful position. Cacá Lopez didn't get a good kick on the ball. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling William Simão in the 14th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Pedro Paulo Bueno prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 16th minute, Fred Pontes fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Egídio Carioca, passed just outside the right post. Egídio Carioca showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Basílio Lucas, who was totally free with the ball in the 17th minute. In the 18th minute the ball was on its way in behind Manduri's goalkeeper Egídio Carioca, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Manduri's Egídio Carioca proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 26th minute of the match, managed to save Manduri from getting a goal against them. When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Erivaldo Toledo made a kick off.
