The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Váldson Pimenta hit a great freekick 5 minutes into the match. 6 minutes into the match, Pomerode FC's Manuel Vaz broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. In the 15th minute, Dinei Berger made a precise shot to the right of João Adolfo Torres. Canatiba's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-0. An unexpectedly hard shot by Luiz Fabiano Machado in the 23rd minute of play forced Pomerode FC's goalkeeper Baltazar Silva to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Dinei Berger sent away a hard shot on goal in the 26th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After some fancy dribbling in the 29th minute, Pedro Luís Silva managed to get in a good position for a shot. Pomerode FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Pedro Luís Silva was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. João Adolfo Torres breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Dudu Romero's late challenge caught a Canatiba's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Dudu Romero helped the player get up and apologised. In the 31st match minute, Pomerode FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Dudu Romero to maneuver through the defense. In the 33rdth minute of the game Jean Paraibano who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Pomerode FC's Baltazar Silva was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. João Adolfo Torres came out of the goal in the 37th minute to try and stop a shot by Pomerode FC's Dinei Berger. But to his dismay, Dinei Berger quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 3-0. Dudu Romero hit a great freekick 40 minutes into the match. Pedro Luís Silva fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 46th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without João Adolfo Torres having to interfere.

54 minutes into the game, Pomerode FC's Washington Munhoz nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. João Adolfo Torres made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 4-0. If Dinei Berger had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 57th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Jean Paraibano fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 62nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Baltazar Silva having to interfere. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Dinei Berger in the 66th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg João Adolfo Torres saved Canatiba from getting behind. In the 66thth minute of the game Dinei Berger who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Canatiba's João Adolfo Torres was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. João Adolfo Torres took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Pedro Luís Silva, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Pedro Luís Silva received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 71st minute. João Adolfo Torres tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 75th minute, Dinei Berger got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After some careless play in the Canatiba defense, Pedro Luís Silva kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of João Adolfo Torres. The Canatiba fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that João Adolfo Torres should have stopped the shot. The supporters of Pomerode FC booed when Canatiba was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 79 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jean Paraibano didn't get a good kick on the ball. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Dinei Berger in the 81st minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck João Adolfo Torres prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 82nd minute Dinei Berger shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but João Adolfo Torres saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. João Adolfo Torres showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Pedro Luís Silva in the 83rd minute of the match. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Pedro Luís Silva in the 86th minute a chance for a shot on goal.
