Walmir Reis showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Pedro Luís de Brito in the 24th minute of the match. If Gil Baptista had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 28th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 30 minutes into the match, Fortaleza Esporte Clube's goal looked a bit too open when Gil Baptista came free, but Walmir Reis reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Pedro Luís de Brito's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Walmir Reis read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 32nd minute of play. Tiaguinho Massa made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ludomir Golembiewski in the 33rd minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Taborda EC's zone, Marco Passos stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Tiaguinho Massa came out of the goal and Marco Passos tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Marco Passos sent away a hard shot on goal in the 36th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ludomir Golembiewski in the 38th minute of play forced Taborda EC's goalkeeper Tiaguinho Massa to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 43 minutes into the match, Fortaleza Esporte Clube's goal looked a bit too open when Gil Baptista came free, but Walmir Reis reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In a very dangerous position, a player in Fortaleza Esporte Clube fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 44th minute. Penalty! Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

A collision led to Fortaleza Esporte Clube getting a freekick after 63 minutes play. Ludomir Golembiewski hit a great ball. Gil Baptista received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 64th minute. Walmir Reis tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Walmir Reis made an important save on a dangerous shot by Pedro Luís de Brito in the 73rd minute. 77 minutes into the match, Maurício Sarmento had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Tiaguinho Massa. Taborda EC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Maurício Sarmento was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-2. Frédson de Mendonça made in the 88th minute of the game a fairly good throw-in which was taken care of by Guilherme Dracena. When Ludomir Golembiewski came up free with the goalie in the 91st minute, the Fortaleza Esporte Clube fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Ludomir Golembiewski couldn't finish the play.
