If Alfredo Urbano had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 15th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. When Bateia's Wágner Cosme in the 21st minute got a chance for a shot 21st didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Targinos's goalie prevented a goal. In the 24th minute the ball was on its way in behind Targinos's goalkeeper Aníbal Pontes, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After a defensive mix-up in Bateia's zone, José Paulo Montenegro stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Paulo Renato Aguiar came out of the goal and José Paulo Montenegro tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Wágner Cosme sent away a hard shot on goal in the 31st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The supporters of Bateia booed when Targinos was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 32 match minutes in a wonderful position. Anselmo Nóbrega didn't get a good kick on the ball. Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Wágner Cosme to make the kick off. José Paulo Montenegro who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 53rdth minute tested the skills of Paulo Renato Aguiar when he managed to save the team from getting behind. In the 54th minute Wágner Cosme shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Aníbal Pontes saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Remo Alves's late challenge caught a Bateia's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Remo Alves helped the player get up and apologised. After 81 played minutes Targinos got a freekick which was hit by Remo Alves. After recieving a nice pass, Bateia's Gildo Garcia tried to score from far away in the 82nd minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. If Wágner Cosme had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 84th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Alfredo Urbano received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 86th minute. Aníbal Pontes tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Alfredo Urbano came up free with the goalie in the 95th minute, the Bateia fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Alfredo Urbano couldn't finish the play. Aníbal Pontes made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Wágner Cosme in the 96th minute of play.
