Willian Cearense took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Sérgio Cruz, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Mauro de Lima couldn't finish the play. Samuca Cunha was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 30th played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. Mauro de Lima's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Willian Cearense read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 35th minute of play. Sérgio Cruz might have been able to make a better finish in the 36th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Willian Cearense. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Sérgio Cruz ran back to his position shaking his head. Joaquim Abreu could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 41st minute of the match, but Artur Tusk made a huge save. If Sérgio Cruz had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 42nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.

The wind increased when Silvério Abreu made the kick off in the second half. 58 minutes into the game, Sílvio Furtado was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Vere's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Itamaraca the free kick. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Silvério Abreu in the 67th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Artur Tusk prevented the ball from getting in the gole. If Joaquim Abreu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 68th minute. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Sérgio Cruz in the 94th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Willian Cearense saved Vere from getting behind. The Itamaraca players were the happier at the end of the match as they had prevented Vere from taking control. The game ends in a draw.
