With a little luck, Liberdade EC's Flavinho Goiano got control of the ball when Durvalino Recife tried to sneak it across the goal line. Luisinho Matos hit a great freekick 6 minutes into the match. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Ulisses Vinhas during the 10th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 10th minute, Ulisses Vinhas hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. An unexpectedly hard shot by Luís Paulo Travassos in the 15th minute of play forced Liberdade EC's goalkeeper Flavinho Goiano to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Benjamim Hermes struck a weak shot in the 16th minute. Walmir Novaes didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Liberdade EC. A collision led to Liberdade EC getting a freekick after 17 minutes play. Juarês Arantes hit a great ball. In the 18th minute, Sambaitiba's Durvalino Recife dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 2-0. If Luís Paulo Travassos had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 25th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Flavinho Goiano stood somewhat misplaced when Durvalino Recife came free in front of goal and shot 3-0 to the left of him in the 27 minute. 31 minutes into the game, Luís Paulo Travassos recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Flavinho Goiano. Luís Paulo Travassos showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 4-0. If Durvalino Recife had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 35th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 5-0 became the score in the 40th minute when Antônio Damião elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. Antônio Damião charged in rather forcefully in the 43rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Antônio Damião the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 43rd minute, Antônio Damião hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The wind increased when Nilson de Almeida made the kick off in the second half. Flavinho Goiano showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Luís Paulo Travassos in the 52nd minute of the match. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Durvalino Recife in the 57th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Flavinho Goiano saved Liberdade EC from getting behind. Flavinho Goiano took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Luís Paulo Travassos, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Flavinho Goiano showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Durvalino Recife, who was totally free with the ball in the 64th minute. Marcinho Leão's late challenge caught a Sambaitiba's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Marcinho Leão helped the player get up and apologised. After 65 played minutes Liberdade EC got a freekick which was hit by Marcinho Leão. In the 70th minute, Luisinho Matos hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If Luís Paulo Travassos had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 74th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The supporters of Sambaitiba booed when Liberdade EC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 76 match minutes in a wonderful position. Marcinho Leão didn't get a good kick on the ball. Luís Paulo Travassos sent away a hard shot on goal in the 79th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Luís Paulo Travassos might have been able to make a better finish in the 82nd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Flavinho Goiano. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Luís Paulo Travassos ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 84thth minute of the game Luís Paulo Travassos who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Liberdade EC's Flavinho Goiano was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. 90 minutes into the match, Liberdade EC's goal looked a bit too open when Luís Paulo Travassos came free, but Flavinho Goiano reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Marcinho Leão hit a great freekick 98 minutes into the match. Cido Peixoto succeeded in the game's 99th minute to get real power on a long shot . Liberdade EC's Flavinho Goiano hadn't the time to block the shot which was pasted into the goal, 6-0! It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. Sambaitiba had played much better football throughout.
