He stayed cool and waited for the goalkeeper to move, before he confidently shot the ball into the goal, to the left of Carlos Alberto de Barros. Cristóvão Ramalho stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Gilberto Sá's shot from short distance in the 37th minute. A collision led to Cupaoba getting a freekick after 39 minutes play. Clemente Teles hit a great ball.

The wind increased when João Paulo Sabóia made the kick off in the second half. The crowd rose to their feet as Carandahy's João Paulo Sabóia slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Cristóvão Ramalho. That made the score 1-4 after 53 minutes of play. João Paulo Sabóia sent away a hard shot on goal in the 56th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a rather tough play, Cupaoba's Edgar Melo got a free kick in the 57th minute. 59 minutes in the game Roberto Botelho after having made a beautiful turn got a great opportunity to score and fired away a shot that went just to the left past a relieved Cristóvão Ramalho. After some careless play in the Carandahy defense, Clemente Teles kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Carlos Alberto de Barros. The Carandahy fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Carlos Alberto de Barros should have stopped the shot. Cristóvão Ramalho took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from João Paulo Sabóia, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side.
