The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Ricardo de Castro blasted a shot towards the goal in the 3rd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Luís Rossi having to make a save. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Ricardo de Castro in the 5th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Luís Rossi prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Egídio Cerezo kicked well hit freekick during the 7th minute of the match. In the 10th minute of the match Fabrício Maranhense shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Luís Rossi showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 11th minute, Ricardo de Castro managed to get in a good position for a shot. Cupaoba's supporters rose to their feet, but Ricardo de Castro was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Luís Rossi breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 15 minutes into the match, Eritreia EC's goal looked a bit too open when Gerson Freire came free, but Luís Rossi reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 16 minutes, Anselmo do Vale mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Eritreia EC and the Cupaoba players grew even worse after the yellow card. Luís Rossi showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gerson Freire, who was totally free with the ball in the 18th minute. After 20 minutes, Egídio Cerezo mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Eritreia EC and the Cupaoba players grew even worse after the yellow card. Douglas Vieira hit a great freekick 25 minutes into the match. Durval Quadros's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Cristóvão Ramalho read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 26th minute of play. Eurico Coutinho sent away a hard shot on goal in the 30th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Eritreia EC's Francisco Queirós shoveled away a really nice long shot in the 32nd minute of play. The shot was stopped by Cristóvão Ramalho but with some difficulty. In the 34th minute the ball was on its way in behind Eritreia EC's goalkeeper Luís Rossi, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Luís Rossi showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ricardo de Castro in the 35th minute of the match. Manolo Arce sent away a hard shot on goal in the 40th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

After 59 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Cupaoba! The referee gave Eritreia EC a penalty, 61 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Durval Quadros, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Cupaoba's Cristóvão Ramalho. 2-0. Cristóvão Ramalho took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Eurico Coutinho, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a rather tough play, Eritreia EC's Eurico Coutinho got a free kick in the 76th minute. If Ricardo de Castro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 85th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. If Gerson Freire had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 87th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 2-1 became the score in the 94th minute when Ricardo de Castro elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. 98 minutes into the match, Eritreia EC's goal looked a bit too open when Ricardo de Castro came free, but Luís Rossi reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. For all the effort they put into the match, the Cupaoba players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Eritreia EC.
