In the 17th minute, Remo Pena made a precise shot to the right of Cristóvão Ramalho. Cupaoba's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-2. Cupaoba's Cristóvão Ramalho played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Rodrigo Gomes in the 45th minute of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Gerson Freire got free with Ian de Castro in the 47th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 48 minutes into the match, Cupaoba's Gerson Freire sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Ian de Castro narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-4 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.
