Renato Couto sent away a hard shot on goal in the 4th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Juvenal Velasco stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Rubens Fernandes's shot from short distance in the 5th minute. The supporters of Arantes SS booed when Gonzaga AD was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 6 match minutes in a wonderful position. Anísio Maciel didn't get a good kick on the ball. An unexpected shot in the 11th minute by Rubens Fernandes got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. In the 13th match minute, Arantes SS was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Felipe Quirino to maneuver through the defense. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Anísio Maciel during the 17th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Anísio Maciel kicked well hit freekick during the 17th minute of the match. Zé Pedro Recife shot from long distance in the 18th minute, but Juvenal Velasco was prepared and stopped the ball at the left post. If Rubens Fernandes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 20th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Renato Couto struck a weak shot in the 22nd minute. Juvenal Velasco didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Arantes SS. After a rather tough play, Gonzaga AD's Nilton Soares got a free kick in the 25th minute. In the 27th minute Rubens Fernandes shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Juvenal Velasco saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Hermínio Meirelles came up free with the goalie in the 29th minute, the Gonzaga AD fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Hermínio Meirelles couldn't finish the play. Simão de Brito hit a great freekick 30 minutes into the match. In the 32ndth minute of the game Manfredo de Amorim who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Arantes SS's Sílvio Luís Sarmento was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Manfredo de Amorim received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 33rd minute. Sílvio Luís Sarmento tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Sílvio Luís Sarmento took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Hermínio Meirelles, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Anísio Maciel sent away a hard shot on goal in the 43rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Manfredo de Amorim came up free with the goalie in the 46th minute, the Gonzaga AD fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Manfredo de Amorim couldn't finish the play. Renatinho de Lara took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 47th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Sílvio Luís Sarmento. Arantes SS's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Rubens Fernandes to strike the kick off in the second half. After some fancy dribbling in the 58th minute, Manfredo de Amorim managed to get in a good position for a shot. Gonzaga AD's supporters rose to their feet, but Manfredo de Amorim was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Sílvio Luís Sarmento breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Manfredo de Amorim sent away a hard shot on goal in the 61st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After taking down the ball on Gonzaga AD's corner Renatinho de Lara fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Sílvio Luís Sarmento quite easily take care of the ball. Gonzaga AD's Manfredo de Amorim got a good chance for a goal in the 68th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After some fancy dribbling in the 70th minute, Renato Couto managed to get in a good position for a shot. Arantes SS's supporters rose to their feet, but Renato Couto was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Juvenal Velasco breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Manfredo de Amorim in the 75th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Sílvio Luís Sarmento saved Arantes SS from getting behind. Hermínio Meirelles recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 76th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The supporters of Gonzaga AD booed when Arantes SS was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 77 match minutes in a wonderful position. Edmílson Cabral didn't get a good kick on the ball. Hermínio Meirelles recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 80th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Manfredo de Amorim struck a weak shot in the 81st minute. Sílvio Luís Sarmento didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Gonzaga AD. Ivo da Silva charged in rather forcefully in the 88th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Ivo da Silva the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 87 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Arantes SS! 100 minutes into the game, Victor Sampaio was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Gonzaga AD's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Arantes SS the free kick. Neither set of supporters seemed pleased with the draw, but both teams had played equally well today.
