The supporters of Terreiro SC booed when Cachoeiras was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 11 match minutes in a wonderful position. Vágner Loyola could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 16th minute of the match, but Wilian Furlan made a huge save. Wilian Furlan took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cristian Meirelles, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Wilian Furlan made an important save on a dangerous shot by Vágner Loyola in the 20th minute. Dorian Britto fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 22nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Carlos Eduardo Carioca having to interfere. The referee felt a red card was in order, 23 minutes into the game, when Gilson Varela put in a rough tackle. 23 minutes into the game, one of Terreiro SC:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. In the 25th minute there was a penalty for Cachoeiras. Jeferson Sergipano stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Carlos Eduardo Carioca. 1-1. After 28 minutes, Dorian Britto mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Cachoeiras and the Terreiro SC players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 28th match minute, Cachoeiras was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Dorian Britto to maneuver through the defense. Vágner Loyola struck a weak shot in the 31st minute. Disappointed in the 1-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The wind increased when Vágner Loyola made the kick off in the second half. Carlos Eduardo Carioca made an important save on a dangerous shot by Délio Zonta in the 54th minute. 60 minutes into the match, Délio Zonta dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Carlos Eduardo Carioca, 1-3. Wilian Furlan made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Vágner Loyola in the 66th minute of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 68th minute, Dorian Britto managed to get in a good position for a shot. Cachoeiras's supporters rose to their feet, but Dorian Britto was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Carlos Eduardo Carioca breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Délio Zonta blasted a shot towards the goal in the 70th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Carlos Eduardo Carioca having to make a save. When Vágner Loyola came up free with the goalie in the 74th minute, the Terreiro SC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Vágner Loyola couldn't finish the play. Délio Zonta received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 77th minute. Carlos Eduardo Carioca tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Terreiro SC's Carlos Eduardo Carioca played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Luís Fernando Sena in the 83rd minute of play. Terreiro SC's Carlos Eduardo Carioca proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 87th minute of the match, managed to save Terreiro SC from getting a goal against them. If Délio Zonta had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 90th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Délio Zonta in the 92nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Carlos Eduardo Carioca saved Terreiro SC from getting behind. Wilian Furlan came out of the goal in the 94th minute to try and stop a shot by Terreiro SC's Vágner Loyola. But to his dismay, Vágner Loyola quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-3. When the match was over Cachoeiras could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Terreiro SC throughout the match.
